At King's Somborne, we try to give a voice to all of our children, and for this reason we have a very specific approach beginning in September 2021. We elect our Council at the beginning of each year; they are then a voice for their class, and a voice for their schoolmates. However, we do not want anyone in our school to 'lose their voice' so we welcome everyone to our meetings.
We share our agenda, as designed by our councillors, with each class and let them know where the meeting will be taking place and when. If there is a topic on the agenda that interests anyone else, then we invite them to an open forum. Our Council then digest this information, take on board the feedback and decide next steps with the support of our adult leads, Mrs Jarvis, Mrs Boot and Mr O'Brien. As the leaders of our Wellbeing Team, as well as our Council Support Team, Mrs Jarvis and Mrs Boot listen to our children to make improvements, and also work with our children to help them to solve any problems or issues that may be arising.
So, find your voice - let us know what you think we could do to make this school even better, and let's work together to make this happen. Your voice matters, and your voice could be the one that makes the difference.
There is one very important thing though - if you have something that you want to talk about and it is making you worried or unsafe, then do not wait for a meeting! Talk to a trusted adult about it as soon as you can. You can find more information on how to do this on the Keeping Safe section of our website in the Children section (where this is too!).
