Gymnastics Festival 24th January
On 24th January, we went to a Gymnastics festival at Test Valley School. We completed a range of different activities such as making letters with our bodies, travelling along beams and exploring different resources such as pom-poms.
We completed our dance routine in front of the judges!
We did such an amazing job and came in 2nd place.
Our Christmas Learning Journey
Squirrel Class are rather excited about Christmas and we decided to explore the Nativity further as part of our Learning Journey. We have loved reading a beautiful book called 'Refuge' by Anne Booth. The children have used a 'Talk for Writing' style story map to recall and re-tell the story, enabling them to develop some beautiful writing.
Space Adventure!
What an exciting start to our new Learning Adventure! We were so excited to find an enormous, mysterious dome in our hall when we came into school. We soon discovered that Karen from the Winchester Science Centre had brought their Planetarium to our school to help us learn about Space. The children looked at the cosmos and were encouraged to join the stars like a dot-to-dot, as we watched constellations appear. We even got to get a really close view f the Moon!
Remembrance Service
On Friday 11th November, we went and stood by the monument to pay our respects to the soldiers who have given their lives and those who are still working to defend our country. We sang a beautiful rendition of 'In Flanders Field' led by the marvellous Mrs Cartwright.
Some children in Wren class shared some wonderful poems with us based on the importance and symbolism of the poppy. Their poems are in this collection of images.
We have created a whole school art project based on poppies which will be on display.
Welcome to the Squirrel class page! Our learning adventure has taken us all around our beautiful village and we've found clues about the person who founded our incredible school; Reverend Richard Dawes. We have spent time following a gingerbread trail and exploring Number and Place Value. We've had a fantastic start to the year and here are the photo's to prove it!
